This week along with sea
life we have been exploring different types of painting with the children. We experimented with various techniques,implements and colors while creating some beautiful masterpieces. Some of them are for you to enjoy on Mother's Day, while others are for us to admire at school, before they are washed away by the rain. It is important to remember, that children become creative, not by what they produce, although that is an affirmation of their work, but by what they attempt and explore. Children need materials and
activites through which they can express their ideas and feelings. Using obscure methods and materials
helps to spark that innate
creativity children possess. they only need the opportunity and
freedom to explore without
experiencing failure. These open ended activities provide just
such an occasion.
This process required the kids to spoon the paint on the paper instead of brushing. Kids are reminded that many things can be used for painting to get different effects.
Sidewalk
painting allowed the children to blend colors, feel the
textured surface and have a REALLY BIG canvass for expressing those big ideas!
