The kids have been doing a lot of painting lately, and they love it, but I decided to put a new spin on things. I introduced various kitchen gadgets to use as painting tools. I got a few strange looks at first, but gradually, they took to the idea of an alternative modality. The gadgets really created some lovely patterns and helped with fine motor skills as well.
Threading yarn or string through holes punched in cardboard squares offers the children practice at small-motor coordination. They can practice holding and manipulating two objects simultaneously, one in each hand.
